My ultimate goal for SimNation is to bring everything in the sports simulation world to one place. I’ve always been one to keep things nice and organized, so why not keep it all online for everyone else’s use as well. This is just the beginning of bringing it all together. This is how I would like to see it play out.
Leagues: SimNation has plans to host several leagues at no charge. All you have to do is provide a domain name or we can simply give you a subdomain (http://www.yourleague.simnation.net). Leagues will be something we phase in over time and we will even provide vBulletin forums for your league. There is a chat system built into the forums as well to help ease communications. By having the leagues all in one community, they will benefit from more exposure and easily share experiences between each other.
Non-SimNation Leauges: Got a league not in SimNation? We’ll post it for you on our Non-SN Leauges site and give all the details and specifics for anyone looking to join another league. Its sort of our way of doing free advertising just for stopping by. Feel free to post in the Non-SN portion of the forums as well.
Downloads: People in the sports sim world don’t always have the resources to distribute their downloads. When they do it is generally on a temporary server somewhere and it will soon become unavailable when someone wants it later. Thats where this place comes in. SimNation has unlimited storage for all of your sports sim files and a permanent solution. We will keep it all safe, sound, and organized for future access. All types of sports sim files are welcome here such as roster files, mods, player / stadium graphics, and the list goes on.
Forums: Probably the biggest part of bringing it all together is using the forum. We’ll have all the SimNation leagues there for you to stop by and check out plus a lot more. There is a general chat forum for just about anything, and this can all be customized to your needs. I’m always open to suggestions. The forum is also a good place to talk about new mods, downloads, etc. that you can make me aware of to put on the site. Just point me in the right direction and I’ll get the content added to the site. If there is something really big, I can even hook you up with FTP access to upload the files to SimNation servers.
As for myself, my name is Mike. I’ve been around the sim world for a long time. I’ve spent many years in the OOTP world as both a player and a beta tester. I’ve run my fair share of online leagues so I know how that process works. I’ve also got into other sports sims such as Bowl Bound College Football, Draft Day Sports: College Basketball, Baseball Mogul, Front Office Football, and several others. SimNation sounded like a good idea to me, so I thought I’d give it a shot.
That’s it for now, sounds like a good starting point to me. Suggestions and comments are always welcome. And please overlook my amateur ability to do html coding. :)
